The Price of Freedom

In this Ship-based guided program, students will learn about the ways North Carolinians, and those onboard USS North Carolina, served in WWII, and how their actions affected other events and communities. They will explore several unique stories of those who served on the home front, the Battleship, in different military branches, as well as those who never made it home. Students will analyze primary sources, examine artifacts, and envision conditions onboard the ship as they wind through several compartments above, below, and on the main deck. This program aligns with several social studies standards.
