Programs

Looking down into a shaft on the Battleship, off the tour-route.

Life Long Learning Programs

Lifelong learning is the practice of continuing to learn throughout one's entire life, especially outside of or after the completion of formal schooling.  Here at the Battleship, we use Lifelong Learning to describe our programming because the Battleship is full of topics and interests that can lead to continued learning.  These topics include: engineering, navigation, physics, and mathematics.  These special programs are only offered a few times a year and tend to take participants to "off tour-route" spaces of the Battleship--which is always a special treat!  These programs are very popular and tend to sell out quickly--be sure to sign up for the one that interests you today!

Museum Tours

Hidden Battleship

For the explorer at heart, bring a friend and join us for a unique, behind-the-scenes tour of unrestored areas of the Battleship.  This 4-hour tour consists of small groups with guides.

Guests explore the bow (officer's country & boatswain locker), third deck (Radio II, brig, after gyro, storage rooms, ammunition handling, Engineer's office, torpedo area), Interior Communications and Emergency Radio, Engine room #1, the US Marines quarters and the Captain’s Cabin, and climb inside the fire control tower to the top of the ship!

The Azalea Coast Radio Club will be in Radio II to explain their work on the Ship's radio transmitters.  It's the tour that brings out the "Indiana Jones" in all of us, without the snakes!

**For individuals 16 and older.
