Armed Forces Day Musical Salute

Don’t miss this year’s first Musical Salute to the Battleship as the Friends celebrate Armed Forces Day on May 17. The Saturday evening concert will feature the Brunswick Big Band as they open the “Great American Songbook” and offer up a variety of 40s-era music.
Created by President Harry S Truman to pay tribute to the men and women currently serving in all branches of the military, this year marks the 75th celebration of Armed Forces Day. Our Musical Salute will extend the tribute one step further by honoring the crew of the USS North Carolina and the more than 11,000 North Carolinians who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War ll.
Like other Friends on the Fantail events, concertgoers are encouraged to bring their favorite chair, beverages, and snacks to enjoy before and during the 2-hour performance. Your favorite insect repellant might also be a valuable addition to your evening pack-out.
The Armed Forces Day Musical Salute to the Battleship is open to the public.
Tickets will be free to Friends members (two tickets per household) and $5 (plus tax) a person for guests and non-members.
